Freelance Content Marketer
We're taking on more content than one founder should be writing alone. Looking for a long-term freelance partner to own our Malaysian Chinese content, someone we brief once and trust to ship. Your writing lands in front of towkays deciding whether to modernise their operations.
Compensation
MYR 1,200 / month
Flat RM 1,200/month retainer for an agreed scope, roughly 12–16 social posts plus 2–4 articles a month. We're bootstrapped, so it's lean, but it's paid on time every month with scope and rate locked upfront. Room to grow as we grow.
About the role
We're a small, bootstrapped shop building custom systems and SaaS for Malaysian businesses. Straight talk: we're not an agency with a big budget. The retainer is RM 1,200/month, flat, paid on time every month. What we offer instead is steady ongoing work, scope agreed upfront, and a founder who knows good from slop and won't micromanage. Brief once, you run. You write for towkays who make calls over kopi, not in boardrooms.
What you'll do
- Plan and ship content across Xiaohongshu, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok
- Write blog posts and case studies aimed at Malaysian SME owners
- On-page SEO: keyword research, content briefs, optimisation
- Run the content calendar end-to-end and tell us what's landing
What we're looking for
- Proven track record writing Mandarin for a Malaysian Chinese audience. You know exactly how it differs from mainland Putonghua, and you write for the towkay, not the textbook
- Strong English too
- Self-managing. You scope, draft, ship, and flag when you're stuck, with minimal supervision
- Reliable on timelines. Long-term means we plan around you
- Use AI daily (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini) to move faster, but you write, AI doesn't. We can smell slop and so can our readers
