Design
Product Designer Intern
Learn product design on systems people are paid to use: the CRM an admin sits in all day, the dashboard an owner checks between meetings. You draw it, we build it, someone uses it to do their actual job within weeks.
About the role
We build custom systems and SaaS for Malaysian businesses. The people who use what we ship are not designers or early adopters. They are an admin executive with 40 browser tabs open, a sales coordinator on a shared laptop, an owner checking numbers on his phone. If the screen is harder than WhatsApp and Excel, they go back to WhatsApp and Excel. As an intern here you sit next to the founder, you get real screens with real deadlines, and nothing you draw is a throwaway exercise.
What you'll do
- Redraw screens users struggle with, and defend why your version is easier to finish
- Build components and states in Figma: empty, loading, error, permission denied, 300 rows
- Sit in on discovery and client calls, and write down how the work actually gets done today
- Prepare handoff files engineers can build straight from, then check the built screen against them
- Design marketing pages, decks, and social assets when the week calls for it
What we're looking for
- Pursuing a degree or diploma in design, HCI, or a related field, or a self-taught portfolio that shows the same work
- Fluent in Figma: components, variants, auto layout
- A portfolio with at least one full flow, not only single screens. We want to see what you removed and why
- Comfortable in English and Mandarin. A lot of our users read Chinese first
- Uses AI daily for exploration, copy drafts, and asset work. It speeds up the boring half, it does not make the decisions
- Available for at least 3 months, minimum 3 days a week, hybrid out of Petaling Jaya
Nice to have
- Can build a clickable prototype, in Figma or in code
- Basic HTML and CSS, enough to read a component and know what is cheap to change
- Motion, illustration, or short-form video editing
What you'll learn
- How to sit in front of a non-technical user and read what they do, not what they say
- How a messy real process becomes a screen someone can finish without training
- The unglamorous states, which is where most of real product design lives
- How a design survives handoff, and what breaks when it does not
- Direct feedback from the founder in the same week, not a review cycle
Tools you'll use
- Figma
- Next.js
- Tailwind CSS
- Claude
- Linear
- Notion
